2018 School Games with Missing Link & the Youth Sport Trust

SEL were approached by Missing Link Conference Company Ltd (MLCCL) for support with production for the 2018 School Games Celebration Ceremony. The School games are organised by The Youth Sport Trust & Sport England and held at Loughborough University.

With MLCCL taking care of the overall production management and all video elements of the ceremony we were tasked with supplying sound, stage lighting, pyrotechnics and the remaining event infrastructure namely Site Power and the Stage itself.

The 10x6m stage (supplied by Soundstage One) was then covered by our overhead lighting system comprising of a mix of Chauvet R2 washes and 375z profiles as well as a front wash of 6x 1k Fresnels. The look was completed with a ground package of Lanta LED Pars, Showtec LED sunstrips and Martin MH4 Beams. The system was then controlled and programmed on our Chamsys system and wing running via Artnet from FOH to Stage.

The ceremony provided another ideal situation to give our Martin Audio WPC Line array a run out. The system consisted of 4 top boxes a side ground stacked on our SX218 subs and powered by Martin iKON iK42 Amplifiers with X8's on infill duty. Stage monitoring was covered by our EM Acoustics M-12 wedges.

The audio system was controlled by our Roland M-5000c system running to a 24-16 stage rack, controlling a 14 way rack of Sennheiser Ew100G3 RF and wired band package.

After the initial brief asked for a small pyrotechnics package we decide to enlist the help of Frontier Fireworks Ltd. Frontier were asked to supply a short but high impact display for the end of the event with the fireworks being set up on the roof of the building behind the stage. The display provided a spectacular finale to the event.

As the venue chosen for the ceremony lacked viable electrical infrastructure we were asked to provide a generator and additional lighting towers to illuminate ingress and egress points at the end of the event. This was achieved quickly and efficiently with the assistance of our suppliers and our site electrics team.

Overall the event was a great success and we look forward to working with Missing Link & The Youth Sport Trust on events in the future.
