The Cornflower Ball 2017

For the third year running we were approached to support Eastbourne College with the production of the annual Cornflower Ball for their outgoing year 13 students. The Cornflower Ball usually takes place in the Winter Gardens in Eastbourne, but unfortunately due to the Aegon Tennis championships and other associated factors the venue was unavailable for 2017 and the decision was therefore made to hold the event on the College Campus.

The venue change flagged up a number of challenges that needed solutions and we happily stepped up to the plate engaging with the client throughout the planning and production process to ensure a successful outcome.

The event was held across 2 main venues, with the dinner being served in the college dining room and an adjacent marquee. We provided PA systems for background music in both venues as well as supporting the Ball Committee during the decoration of the venues installing tension wires and overhead pickup points for drapes and lighting.

We also decorated the main entrance path to the dining room with festoon and two 3m truss arches complete with LED uplighters within the truss.

Once the dinner service was completed the guests moved down to the main campus building for the evening's entertainment. Comprising of a performance by the 'Philosophy Event Band' Casino, Photo Booth and Inflatables outside there was something for everyone. We provided all technical production to support the band in the College Theatre including a 6m x 4m stage, Lighting and Sound System. We also supplied power infrastructure for the inflatables outside as well as cross site communications for the organisers and our friends from Security and Events Solutions who were providing security cover for the event.

The evening was a fantastic success and all credit must go to the organisers particularly for organising the event with the challenges of the venue change. Well done all :)
